Oriental Scholars – S1E05 – Ibn Rushd
Ibn Rush was born in Cordoba, Spain. He was a prominent thinker and scientist who was involved in the development of many Islamic institutions in Morocco. He produced three types of commentaries on the works of Aristotle, which are “Al Jami”, “Al Takhlis”, and “Al Tafsir”. He also translated and wrote commentaries in Arabic on Aristotle’s work and complied them into a famous book called De Anima. Along with these commentaries he also wrote several books in medicine and astronomy, and jurisprudence (where he discovered sun spots), the most famous of them are the books, “Al Kulayat Fi Al Tibb”, “Solid Motion of Sphere – Kitab Fi Harakat Al Falak”, and “Bidayat Al Mujtahid wa Nihayat Al Muktasid”.
