Al Mawardi was born in 972 AD in Basrah. He was one of the most famous thinkers in political science in the Middle Ages, and a great sociologist, jurist, and muhaddith (an expert in the studies of hadith). He wrote monumental works such as “Al-Ahkam as-Sultania, Qanun al-Wazarah”, and “Nasihat al-Mulk”. He also wrote “The Ordinances of Government” under commission from one of the caliphs of Baghdad.
